Drought Resistant Plants

May 25, 2012

San Antonio is getting warmer and with water restrictions yards are harder to maintain this time of year. When selling a home, curb appeal is the first impression. The key is less grass and more flowers. Manicured front yards displaying more rock and mulch are much easier to maintain and cheaper on your monthly water bill. I recently read an article on drought resistant plants. This article includes a slide show of 1 – 10 of beautiful, strong flowers which don’t need abundant attention. It includes pictures, the name of the flower and a great description. You can find it at this link: http://www.houselogic.com/photos/gardens/drought-resistant-plants/slide/four-oclocks/#hydrangea.

Stage To Sell a Home

May 11, 2012

The old saying “you never get a second chance to make a first impression” certainly holds true in today’s competitive residential real estate market. Buyers determine which homes to consider based on what they see on the various public websites they visit to view homes. If they don’t like what they see in the photos you can be certain they will not schedule a showing of your property. Now more than ever a home for sale needs to show like a model. That’s where staging comes in. I offer two hours of staging to all my sellers as one of the marketing services I provide. I have learned there is a risk in providing this service- not long ago a client called me just after the stager finished to tell me their house looked so great they decided not to sell!

Yard Solution for Fleas and Ticks

April 19, 2012

As you know, with summer comes the hoard of bugs. Fleas, ticks, grub worms, termites, cinch bugs, fire ants, you name it. The dogs and cats are the real victims, carrying those bugs with them and sometimes picking up on that irritating pesticide. Here is an organic solution for your pets, called Beneficial Nematodes. Basically these Nematodes take to the ground and attack all the insects mentioned above before they hatch. Now, the fleas and ticks you already have will be killed by old age and not by the nematodes. What they do is sting the larva of the unwanted insects, killing the insect and reproduce within the insect. These bugs are not harmful to humans, animals, plants or even other beneficial organisms such as earthworms. You can find this great product at Shades of Green here in San Antonio. For more information visit http://www.shadesofgreensa.com. Shades of Green believes in an organic method of gardening and their staff is very knowledgeable and eager to help.

Perry’s Comes Through

March 8, 2012

Once again my husband and I found ourselves experiencing a disappointing meal at a local restaurant. Unfortunately this time it was at what has become one of our favorite restaurants in San Antonio, Perry’s. I won’t go into the details but I do want to share their solution.
My husband sent an email to the manager describing in detail the issues we had with our meal. Happily we received a response within 24 hours apologizing for the problems, telling us how important our business is to the restaurant and offering a very generous solution.
Needless to say we will return to Perry’s frequently, both as a couple and with guests and do so knowing that 9 out of 10 times we will have a wonderful experience. More importantly we know that on the rare occasion we are disappointed they will make it right.
Give it a try if you haven’t already- and trust them when they recommend the pork chop!

Eminent Domain Problems for Eagle Ford Shale

March 1, 2012

The long planned, massive project has hit its first problem. I read the article on The Express News and am curious as to what will happen. The Beaumont property owners seem to be digging in their heels and what a dilemma for Eagle Ford Shale. However the turn out, I would like to hear more opinions and preferably personal experiences. Read the article at http://www.mysanantonio.com/business/article/Eminent-domain-rehearing-sought-3356916.php. Let me know what you think.

February 10, 2012

Did you run into some hail this weekend? I have a solution for you that is very affordable and fast. Instead of taking your car to a shop where the process is geared to take longer and be less efficient, I recommend you call Jim Carter at Dent Pro. Jim has 20 years of experience and uses a process called paint-less dent repair. Call – 210-912-9934 to set up an appointment with Jim, He will provide you with an estimate at your first visit and in many cases he’ll have your car ready the same day you bring it in.

Perry’s is Almost Perfect

February 1, 2012

You may have seen the review of Perry’s in the paper on Sunday which was for the most part a good review.  For once I agree with the reviewer except I think the review should have been even more favorable, especially in the ambience category.

The fact that the waiter welcomed us back last night gives you a clue as to how many times we’ve already had the pleasure of dining at Perry’s.  We have enjoyed the ambience and view so much in the bar area that we haven’t been able to talk ourselves into dining in the main dining room but fully intend to do so sometime soon.

Okay, what about the food you ask.  The steaks are great, the pork chop (which should really be called a pork loin) is outstanding and the sea bass is the best I’ve had in San Antonio.  The only disappointment we’ve had so far has been the creamed corn (too many breadcrumbs for our taste) and the brocollini which was under cooked.

I strongly encourage you to give them a try for a special dinner or company event or better yet join us in the bar some Sunday.
